Gai and Adrian's 2017 VRC Oaks heroine PINOT
Bred by New Zealand's most iconic Thoroughbred nurseries Cambridge Stud (responsible for standing the greatest stallions to have ever stood in New Zealand, Sir Tristram and Zabeel) this filly is from a Classic Kiwi staying family that was in high demand at the Karaka sales.
She is only the second foal out of the Group 3 placed O'Reilly mare Lovetessa who is a direct descendant of TRISTALOVE. A family that includes the likes Group 1 gallopers VISCOUNT, VIKING RULER, LOVETRISTA, KEMPINSKY, DIAMOND LIKE, FOREVER LOVED, DE BEERS, DON EDUARDO and more! And Gai also trains her 2yo brother so she knows the family well.
Gai Waterhouse - "I adored this filly. I've had wonderful success out of Karaka and went to New Zealand this year to specifically find a staying filly for the First Light team and she ticked all the boxes. She's just gorgeous, very strong and athletic with good bone and substance. She just floats over the ground and she's got quite a bit of spunk about her which I love."
"She is so much like my VRC Oaks winner Pinot - she's well grown for a New Zealand bred filly and will be a lovely 3yo staying filly for us. With such a beautiful page she'll also carry amazing residual value with any black type win on her record. A super buy from a strong edition of the Karaka sale."
