It was a well deserved victory for SEE ME FLY who took out the $45k Tatura Cup for #TeamFLR and Ellerton Zahra and what a ride it was by young apprentice Jess Payne!
Having been knocking on the door with the upmost of consistency all preparation, See Me Fly delivered his first win for the campaign after a few luckless placings and 6th overall career win.
Being known as a horse with a few quirks, See Me Fly was on song at Tatura, jumping away much better than usual and Jess Payne steered him to settle in a lovely position in 4th, one off the fence. The pair travelled well and Jess waited patiently to steer him into the clear 3-4 wide from the 400m mark and the gelding let down with his usual sharp burst to hit the front in the closing stages and win with his ears pricked and 1.5 lengths to spare.

It was a win well celebrated by rising apprentice Jess Payne and her fellow jockeys who were full of praise for the young talent.
“He was awesome. He jumped ok but we got into a lovely position and he always felt the winner. He struggled a touch around the bend however he powered clear and honestly it was pretty soft in the end and he enjoyed the last part of the race.” Said Jess.
All praise for Jess Payne from fellow jockey Nikita Berriman and devout owner Julie O'Connor
The Tatura Cup brought about See Me Fly’s earning’s tally to be over $130,000 – he’s a horse that has taken time to reach his potential and the Ellerton Zahra team have done a great job in managing him all the way through his career – now a 6yo, he’s reaching his best form and delivering for his devout owners.
