The son of rising sire Sizzling, HOT SOCK, gets the last say in his first win for #TeamQLD at the Sunshine Coast over the weekend!
Having his 4th career start for trainer Rob Heathcote, Hot Sock joined a growing list of Rob Heathcote trained runners to produce a remarkable form turnaround and deliver rich rewards to his patient owners. Following, two starts as a young 2YO for experience, Hot Sock failed on the Heavy going earlier in the month but Rob urged owners to keep the faith and didn't he reward their loyalty in impressive style.

Sent out an $81 chance, Hot Sock settled in the second half of the field for apprentice Michael Murphy and always looked to be travelling nicely and loomed into the race on straightening. Unfortunately, Hot Sock got flattened and despite showing amazing courage and fortitude to pick himself up again and charge late to narrowly finish 2nd as they crossed the line the interference caused by the then race winner had denied Hot Sock a winning opportunity.
With the phone running hot from a furious trainer watching the race in the departures lounge at Brisbane airport, raceday representative Melanie Sharpe fired in a protest and with owners crying foul - many with $81 tickets waiving in the air - Melanie kept her composure and duly got the race result overturned in the Stewards Room and delivered the great news to all.
The result was celebrated Australia-wide as the misely $22,000 Inglis Classic yearling delivered a late season special for connections!
Ninth Winner For Sizzling - https://breednet.com.au/news/4833/Nine-For-Sizzling
"Such a deserving result and Rob's forming quite the habit of getting these big priced winners with Hot Sock ($81) joined Real Estate ($35) and Capeos ($26) earlier this year" said FLR's Tim Wilson. "Its happened to many times to be good fortune and re-reading Rob's pre race advice everything went perfectly to plan even showing faith in the young, yet aggressive, apprentice Michael Murphy who had the sole ride on the day"
Hot Sock has always been a lovely racehorse on type and now his mental maturity matches his physical maturity he becomes a very exciting now 3YO for his owners.
"There was plenty of merit to the win as not only did he get knocked over but he was also punching outside of maiden grade taking on some better credentialed horses under the 2YO Handicap conditions"
"It bodes well for him really going on with it now and he wasn't alone in catching the eye on Sunday with stablemate RETAIRIUS also producing an improved effort for a close-up 4th"
Hot Sock returns to scale with the equally impressive Retairius behind
#TeamQLD are certainly punching above their weight and Hot Sock became the 7th Queensland based winner for FLR with Rob Heathcote and given the stylish performances in recent times of Hot Sock, Real Estate and others it shapes as a very exciting stable heading into the new season.
