*|MC:SUBJECT|*

#SpringHasSprung Rob Heathcote trains yet another TREBLE at Doomben while WINXmania hit Flemington!

On the other hand #TeamFLR runners had their share of bad luck but as they say, there's nothing like racing's ups and downs that builds character #derbydreams & #oaksdreams still alive

☀️LIFE IS GREAT IN THE SUNSHINE STATE☀️

ROB HEATHCOTE STABLE STREAK!

Wow isn't our Queensland trainer Rob Heathcote off to an absolute red hot start to the new season!

After Saturday, Rob...
  • Trained for the second weekend in a row, a Metropolitan TREBLE at Doomben - which includes FLR's own Alpine Dancer!
  • Claimed his first win in the opening Metropolitan 2yo race of the QLD season with ultra impressive Rothesay colt GUNTANTES on debut
  • Shot further ahead to lead the Queensland Metropolitan Trainers Premiership with 17 winners!
Go Team QLD!!

ROTHESAY is hot to trot!

Rothesay is also off to a flyer himself as he chases down his THIRD consecutive Champion Queensland Sire Title for season 2018/19!

#UNDERRATED
  • Rob's homebred star on the rise GUNTANTES and the third horse home in the same race - both by ROTHESAY
  • ROTHESAY took out the 2017/18 Champion QLD sire for the second year in a row - and now he's leading the charge for 2YO winners, look out 2018/19!
  • FLR love a Rothesay! Gun 2yo of last season SCOTTISH ROGUE was a star of the stable! 2 x City Winner & Stakes Placed
  • And now we have TWO! We welcomed this beauty of a ROTHESAY filly to Team QLD this year - Magic Millions & QTIS bonus nominated

Super sire I AM INVINCIBLE is now up to 11 STAKES WINNERS this season after high class mares ECKSTEIN & INVINCIBELLA delivered a Stakes Double at Flemington on Saturday!

We are running out of superlatives for this phenomenal sire and couldn't be more excited to have a classy SUPER VOBIS 2yo filly in the team with Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young! And she's got the same cross as ECKSTEIN!

FLR's SOCIAL STAGE

Twitter was a rage with Winx & Hugh Bowman but Savvy Oak sectionals and Queenslander Rob Heathcote were not missed!

A MERRY WINXMAS AT FLEMINGTON!

It was heart in mouth stuff if you were on track or glued to your TV watching Hugh Bowman steer a nervous path for WINX towards her 28th straight win and 21st Group 1!

What a horse... what a legend... what more is there to say except how lucky we are to have seen two of the greatest mares ever to grace the turf in the last decade!
That engine... All hail WINX!
Thanks to SAVVY OAK's barnstorming closing sectionals, he was our run of the weekend for the FLR stable!

Derby Dreams remain alive for this son of Savabeel with trainers who know how to have them ready for the big dance Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young.

The Post Race Wrap-Up...

Get the post race low down on our leading Spring contenders!
Savvy Oak
Result: 6th in the 1800m Listed UCI Stakes, Flemington - Got back from the wide gate and did plenty wrong but still stormed home to get 6th coming from a long last and ran the 2nd fastest last 1400m of the day!  Remains on a Derby path and off the the Group 3 Caulfield Classic over 2000m next on Caulfield Cup day.

Resurge
Result: 8th in the 1800m Listed UCI Stakes, Flemington - A good run from Resurge although we felt it could have been better.  He got a nice run midfield and ground away to the line ok.  A young colt who had his mind on other things so is off to the paddock to be given time to mature and he'll be back for the Autumn Classics.

Aristia
Result: 9th in the 1600m Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes, Flemington - The most unlucky horse in the field. Held up for a run for the entire straight, she was never tested so a total forgive run and she'll now head to Caulfield on Cup Day for the Group 3 Ethereal Stakes over 2000m.  God speed good filly - your well overdue luck will come!

See Me Fly
Result: 5th in the 1600m Benchmark 78 Handicap, Moonee Valley - Another honest effort from See Me Fly on Friday night up in class and on a firm surface.  He didn't quite handle the tight circuit but stuck on well behind a very handy winner. SMF continues to race well and will be better on a big track with a bit more give in it.

Bold Arial
Result: 5th in the Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate, Tatura - Her own worst enemy on Sunday.  She played up in the gates and jumped slowly putting herself into a very awkward position.  She then got held up momentarily on straightening before finishing off ok.  A filly blessed with much more talent, she doesn't deserve to be a maiden so we're expecting next start she can show a big improvement.

CAPTION THIS!!
