Stable stalwart and popular 5YO gelding Olafsson dominated on Saturday at Murtoa with Dale Smith aboard for his comeback win this preparation and fourth of Olafsson's career.

On Saturday Olafsson worked hard to get to the front and lead the field throughout before charging home in the straight to claim a strong win with plenty in hand on the line.  Now known as FLR's "People's Horse", it was a memorable win savoured by not only his loving owners and young trainer Mick Huglin, but also the man on board Dale Smith who was returning to the saddle for his first ride after 15 months on the sidelines!

Dale said; "He jumped okay but he dictated to the kid last start and I didnt want him doing it again today so we went forward. He travelled well but I felt him half try and switch off so I stayed on his neck and was into him with the whip to keep him genuine. The win was softer than it looked because I didn't want him bludging and he was way too good for this grade."

Mick had some positive feedback saying; "Good result on Saturday getting another win for him at Murtoa, aided by a strong senior rider, that was probably the difference. He used his early pace and he was never gonna be beaten from the half mile."

This gelding has certainly created a little controversy with the handicapper after winning his 3rd BM58 win from just 7 starts. He had the race over by the 800m mark and there looks to be plenty of improvement to come from this quirky galloper.

"Mick has done a wonderful job with this horse" said FLR's Tim Wilson.  "He's not the easiest horse to train or ride and he's had his issues but Mick's been able to get the best out of him and he was always confident this horse was going better then ever this campaign.  Awesome for Dale "Smithy" to return a winner with us also.  He's a great bloke and he's built a great association, working hard with Mick and team down at Cranbourne for a successful return to riding".

Olafsson has now won 3 races for Mick from just 11 starts. That also makes it 3 winners in just 7 days for the FLR team!
